Dave E. Redekopp, President and Executive Director

Consulting in career development and leadership practices for more than two decades, Dave looks simultaneously at both sides of the work coin: the worker and the organization. Recently, most of his efforts have focussed on helping organizational leaders create more productive and humane work environments by focussing on the worker-work-workplace fit. As well as heading up the Life-Role Development Group’s product development, consulting, research and program design initiatives, Dave teaches hundreds of leaders and career development practitioners in the public and private sectors each year.

Dave’s experience in the career development field is wide and varied. He was pivotal in creating English Canada’s first post-degree Diploma in Career Development (still being offered, over 20 years later), and he has developed numerous programs and courses for career practitioners at Athabasca University, Aurora College, Concordia University College of Alberta, Langley College and University of Lethbridge. Most recently, he has led a project to develop and deliver a Career Development Competency program to Alberta’s Career and Employment Consultants, recently approved for credit toward the international Educational and Vocational Guidance Practitioner (EVGP) designation of the International Association of Vocational and Educational Guidance.

Dave has also been a Governor of the Canadian Career Development Foundation, and he was a founding member of the Alberta Career Development Action Group. He has been a Director of the Canada Career Consortium as well as the Director of Program Development within Concordia University College of Alberta’s Career Development Department.
Formal educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology (University of Alberta), Master of Educational Psychology (Counselling) (University of Alberta), Bachelor of Education (University of Winnipeg), and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (University of Winnipeg). Dave has been awarded Alberta’s Career Development Award of Excellence (1996), the national Stu Conger Award for Leadership in Career Counselling and Career Development (1997) and the Ontario School Counsellors Association’s President’s Award (1999).
