The Group has developed hundreds
of programs, courses, workshops and seminars. These have ranged from
large, bilingual national programs with train-the-trainer components
to one-day workshops for small groups of staff. Our content specialities
are career development and leadership, but we can develop effective
programs in any content area with the help of Life-Role Analysis, a
curriculum design tool developed by Kris Magnusson and Dave Redekopp.
Some recent program development projects include:
- Drug Endangered Children, a workshop on mobilizing multi-disciplinary Drug Endangered Children Teams in communities to protect children living in homes with methamphetamine labs or marijuana grow operations
- Career Development
in Organizations, an e-learning course within the new Campus
Alberta Master of Counselling program (offered jointly by Athabasca
University, University of Calgary and University of Lethbridge).
- Foundations of Assessment,
a four-day course preceded by readings and assignments addressing
core competencies of the Canadian Career Development Standards and
Guidelines (see http://www.career-dev-guidelines.org/). This was developed
for front-line workers within Alberta Human Resources and Employment.
- Time/Work Management,
an intensive web-based course on time/work management for an international
firm. An underlying principle guiding course development was: Work
will get done while learnings going on. It can be hard
to sustain motivation in web-delivered courses, so we created a course
that is productive as well as educational.
- Everyday Coaching,
a two-day course for supervisors/managers preceded by web-based readings
and work, and followed by an assignment with feedback.
- Field Coaching,
a four or five-day course developed for the RCMP that teaches members
how to coach and supervise members new to the service.
- Interactive Leadership,
a ten-day course originally developed for the RCMP but since tailored
for a variety of clients (see Training for
Leaders for more info.).
