Professional Skills:

• Managed two major RCMP Detachments and through this leadership they became known for their novel and effective approach to Policing (Police personnel from Brazil, the Bahamas, Czechoslovakia and various Police Forces from England attended Nanaimo Det. to witness, first hand, the strategies employed);
• Delivered numerous presentations to various City Councils, achieving a high level of success for both policy and budgetary issues;
• Delivered training sessions, on a variety of subjects, to Detachment personnel;
• Developed effective interviewing skills in dealing with the careers of Senior Constables and Non Commissioned Officers;
• Developed expertise in the evaluation of various national Programs within RCMP;
• Developed expertise in Performance Measurement in the public service environment, creating a novel process for the RCMP with the resulting template being embraced by other Federal Departments;
• Developed effective leadership, supervisory and managerial skills at a number of RCMP Detachments; and,
• Developed effective investigative skills in managing a number of high profile files.

   

  Awards:

  2002 Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for significant contributions while serving with the RCMP;

  2002 Nominated for "The Order of Merit of the Police Forces" (This was terminated due to retirement from the RCMP, Fall of 2002);

  2002 Gold Star - signifying 35 years of exemplary service in the RCMP;

  1999 The Police Leadership Forum's National "Police Leadership Award" based on "outstanding leadership" demonstrated while commanding Nanaimo Detachment; and,

  1992 Canada 125 Commemorative Medal for significant service in the RCMP.
