Wendy C. Fox is a partner, with Jim Geekie, in CareerWorks Inc. Wendy has twenty-five years experience as a career development specialist in many facets of the field, from workshop design and delivery to training practitioners, from counselling to research, writing and production of career development materials.

Wendy was part of the first cohort of career counsellors hired to start the Alberta Career Centres in the 1970's. After working for a decade as a career counsellor, Wendy spent eleven years in progressively responsible public service management positions focusing on youth employment issues and information development and marketing. Her accomplishments include:

• establishing and managing the first Canadian provincial-federal youth employment services centre;

• expanding the product line of career related materials produced by the former Alberta Advanced Education and Career Development, and

• receiving the 1989 Alberta Career Development Award of Excellence.

 

In 1997, Wendy expanded her part-time CareerWorks business to full-time work on innovative projects. A few projects include:

• Conducting needs assessments such as the national Meeting the Career Information Needs of Canadians, for the Canada Career Consortium.

• Contributing writing as an associate of the Life Role Development Group to projects such as the Manager as Career Coach for HRDC, Perspectives and Added Perspectives for Health Canada, Creating Your Path through Change for Government of the Northwest Territories and Circuit Coach for the Canadian Career Development Foundation.

• Managing a variety of projects such as Alberta Human Resources and Employment's Career Planning On-Line Project; and HRDC's Job Futures project.

• Delivering workshops ranging from employee career development to parents-teens and career planning to the manager as career coach.

• Teaching counsellors for Concordia University College of Alberta, Aurora College and Malaspina College.

 

Wendy has undergraduate work in management and counselling, and a master's degree in anthropology from the University of Calgary.
